Danielles opening on Saturday 29th of April was a huge success and it was a pleasure to meet her family and friends. Renowned artist Rebecca Cool was here to officially open the exhibition with kind words about Danielles use of colour and the paintings ability to look even better in real life than on a computer. Danielles wonderful friend and caterer Esther treated our tastebuds with peking duck rice paper rolls, cherry tomato bocconcini bites and devine profiteroles. I know many people walked away feeling excited over their purchase of a beautiful painting that will make them smile for many years ahead!

April 2012.

The above images of The Orangery Fine Art Galery are from the recent Exhibition 'Silver and Blue'.

As part of fotofreo Elizabeth McCaig and Helana Taelor joined together to present an exhibition of works using traditional wet methods for processing their images.

Elizabeth’s art works have a distinctive ‘hand made’ element. Combining the use of hand brushed photosensitive chemicals on cotton rag papers and natural fabrics with images captured on old medium format cameras and exposed in sunlight. No two pieces are ever the same.

Helena has chosen as her subject matter the degraded remnants of dead trees found in and around the many lakes, effected by the rise in salinity, that dot the landscape of inland South Western Australia. The once purposed wood, twisted and bent into fantastical shapes by the relentless onslaught of sun, wind and rain is an eerie testament to human endeavours out of sync with the environment. The images were processed as black and white photographs to illustrate the tragic beauty of the phenomena.

Both ladies give inspiration through their hard work and dedication and they, and their beautiful exhibition, was a pleasure to have here at The Orangery Fine Art Gallery.

We have some exciting exhibitions coming up so we hope to see everyone over the next few months. Opening on March the 6th is The Colour of Water - Landscapes in oils by Robin Tunnicliffe. The beautiful colours and stunning landscapes have been captured so well with Robin's fine brush work and we look forward to having him here at the gallery. Robin will be available during the week of his exhibition so please pop in or feel free to call the gallery to arrange a time if you would like to meet Robin whilst viewing his work.

Later in the month of march we have a beautiful exhibition as part of Foto Freo, showcasing the photographic work of Helena Taelor and Elizabeth McCaig. The two ladies have come together to present an exhibition of works using traditional wet methods for processing their images.  The intricate work of Elizabeth's Cyanotype prints are complimented by Helena's delicate yet bold black and white prints. We are always excited to be a part of the foto freo buzz and we wish all the other exhibitors well and we hope the general public enjoy the great variety of the excellent imagery.

OFFICIAL OPENING OF SHAPE IN COLOUR EXHIBITION

Wow, It defiantly seems like December was fast upon us this year! And here at The Orangery Gallery we feel we have been caught up in 'the festive season'!! And what better way to kick it off with the Official Opening of Award Winning Photographer John Woodhouse and his most recent exhibition Shape in Colour.

The gallery held the official opening on Saturday the 10th and amongst the invited guests and friends who came down to admire the works we saw splashes of colour indeed! Exploring new shapes, tones and textures Shape in Colour displays a mixture of abstract nudes, landscapes and exciting portraits all complimented with precise use of colour and tones. Selling most pieces as one-offs (there are 4 pieces that are editions of 5) the exhibition is a must see! One of the pieces titled 'Lips' sold all 5 editions on the opening day! Some of the one-off pieces can be created by John using a similar image, with different tones, colours and texture, but as we discovered on the opening day the pieces are selling fast- i think a few lucky people have some beautiful christmas gifts heading their way!

John would like to sincerely thank everyone who came along to show their support and to all of those who purchased one of his pieces, thankyou, and we hope you enjoy it for many years to come. A big thank you to Paul, PJ and Murray from Fitzgerald Photo Imaging for attending the opening. They were responsible for preparing and producing the canvases and acrylics for the exhibition, their help and hard work is always appreciated. To anyone who couldnt make the opening please feel welcome to come in and see us and the exhibition Shape in Colour anytime, the gallery is open from 11-5pm Tuesdays to Sundays and we would love to see you over a glass of wine!

Shape in Colour is running until Saturday the 24th of December. The gallery will reopen on Tuesday the 10th of January where John will introduce some new exciting concepts and we will have an opening later in january when everyone has recovered from Christmas and have returned from their holiday breaks

From all of us here at The Orangery Fine Art Gallery, we would like to thank you for your support and wish you all a Merry Christmas and all the best for next year, We look forward to seeing you in 2012!
